Christ is risen!
A unique teaching on the Resurrection, by St. Gregory the Dialogist, Pope of Rome (+604) - Part 1 of 3
Christ is risen, beloved ones! St. Gregory provides us with an awesome illustration as to how our Most Sweet Lord Jesus, through His Death and Resurrection, lifted our risen human nature above the angels by “catching” the evil one with the “bait” of His Body on the “hook” of His Divine Nature. I hope your soul is nurtured by the Saint's Spirit-filled words!
“Let us reflect on the glory of His Resurrection, and the depth of His kindness. He willed to rise quickly from death, lest our souls remain for a long time in the death of unbelief. Hence, it was aptly said by the Psalmist: ‘He drank from the stream on His journey; therefore, He lifted up His head’ [Ps. 109(110):8]. The stream of death had been flowing in the human race from the very beginning of the world. The Lord ‘drank’ from this ‘stream’ on His journey, because He tasted death in His passing. And He, therefore, ‘lifted up His head;’ because by rising, He lifted up, above the angels, what - by dying - He laid in the sepulchre. He overthrew the ancient enemy forever, by allowing, for a brief time, His persecutors’ hands to prevail over His Body.”
